Hudson River Valley Project

The Hudson River Highway Project endeavors to develop and implement a logistics system that reliably transports fresh food from regional farms using the Hudson River as the final link to New York City boroughs.

Hudson River Highway Project for food supply resiliency

Our Goals

  • Provide farmers in western and central New York, the upper Hudson and Champlain Valleys including southern Vermont, and western Massachusetts with access to low cost transportation directly to neighborhoods in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan
  • Land vessels at piers in each borough to eliminate the use of bridges, tunnels, or major arteries
  • Make last mile deliveries noiseless, emissions free, and pedestrian safe
  • Over time, minimize shipping-related hydrocarbon emissions and roadway congestion

Farm products include: vegetables, fruit, beef, pork, poultry, dairy, eggs, fish, grains, beans, maple syrup, craft beer, and more!
